A little computer stuff which some may find helpful.

I know that some of you, like me, use Mozilla Firefox, so you may find the following bits interesting. As background info...our beloved late Ashley suggested I swap to FF when I was having major problems with posting pics on the forum and to be fair, it instantly cured all the problems I was having.

Today I was advised of an update by FF. Sounded good, promised lots of stuff, so I installed it. Subsequent usage of the updated system revealed the following...

Connection to almost all websites is significantly faster
Personal info is promised to be much more secure
Private viewing of websites, leaving no history of your visit, is supposed to be untraceable....

But, it would seem to have a downside....those who run Win10 and some of the older systems like Win7 are reporting a loss of some of the bits that they had grown used to...some of their add ons don't work, their favourites list is now not available and a few other things which won't stop the world, but are annoying.

My advice if you receive this advisory email from Mozilla...read and reread it, but wait for a week or two before you update...let them iron out the bugs first.

I stopped using Firefox, due to various issues and problems after updates, and now find Chrome more stable and have Opera as an alternative/backup.
however, the below might be of use

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

or you could try downloading and reinstalling firefox again?

In addition to the above, it is also possible to export/import favorites/bookmarks in Firefox.

Very easy, just open the bookmarks menu, click on "Show all bookmarks", click on "Export and Import", click on "export bookmarks to HTML", select a location and filename, click "save" and your bookmarks will be saved outside of firefox. You then have a backup if anything goes wrong and you need to uninstall FF.

To import bookmarks it is basically the reverse same except instead of clicking on "Export bookmarks to HTML" you click on "Import bookmarks from "HTML"

Worthwhile doing before an upgrade

I struck it lucky with the update yesterday...everything is as it should be. Reading through some posts on their support forum, it seems that a few Win10 users had problems...and one or two Win7 folk.

I use Win8.1 (Industry Pro) and rarely have any issues. This new FF is heaps faster than the previous version.
