I keep meaning to ask how you are both settling in to life here in BG. I know it is early days yet but have you go a feel for the place yet. What is the village like. How are your neighbours Are you finding help when needed for any building work. kat office, elec, water etc . Are you close by and big towns, what do you think of the food, weather, people etc. Are you coping with the language.

Hi berni just noticed your message. My apologies. The village we are in is in the north about an hour from ruse. It seems very quiet and peaceful , just how we like it. We have met a few neighbours some who speak a little English they seem very nice and welcoming. We also have a few Brits living in the village and again very friendly pointing us in the right direction etc. We have been lucky enough to have bought a fully renovated house so not much work needing done at all. Infact the English gentmeman we bought from left everything in the house so that was a big bonus. The language, well , as we all know is a tough one but fortunately we had a Bulgarian girl who stays in our town in Scotland who has been coming over and teaching us the basics. Also having a good old nosey on here has helped lots too. So experience wise so far so good.

Excellent!  truly delighted for you both....  Now just sit back and enjoy the lovely summer, you will love it.

Take short breaks away when you can to see different parts of BG this is what we are doing now as for the past 8 years we have not had holidays due to all the work we have been doing in the orphanages and disability centers, so now all is well with them we are taking breaks every month and loving it.  This month we are off to Golden Sands just hope the weather pick up as have had lots of rain last few days and predicted for next week or so.......

Why BigDave. Sometimes it's just the simplest things that bring a smile to your face like buying what you thought was a chicken then when de frosted turned out to be chicken necks. Only in Bulgaria

Yes!...only in Bulgaria. Over the years I've only been caught once like that...wife sent me to buy a large sausage to go with lunch...the only one I could find was frozen, but I got it anyway. Wifey almost collapsed on the floor laughing....
















....It turned out to be a goats 'willy'.    

  Not been caught yet in the shops but I had a foil covered tub labelled sliced turkey in gravy in the freezer so thought that would be good for supper so popped it onto a tray and into the over.  I did the patotoes and veg and once the turkey was heated I opened the container only to find it was peppers so a vegie supper. Dougie was not amused as he does like his meat.
