| Thanks Varnagirl, Sue deserves most of the credit, she is a martyr to the cause considering we purchased a plot of land ( farmers Field) nothing on it at all, had a new build put on it and have spent the last 8 years developing it, and it is still developing........... Berni, I really feel for you, I remember visiting when the the first orphanage lorry arrived and we cut down a field of 6ft weeds, to get to the old house to store stuff.. plus all the other building and house problems, you must be wondering, 'What are we doing one step forward three steps back. If I remember right you are at the bottom of a fairly steep incline? so every-time you have a storm the water will naturally make its way to your plot, looking at your picture, if that is going to be a regular occurrence, every downfall, and Dougie will hate me for this , have you considered a raised wooden walkway? like the american boardwalk system, around the house, at least if you get floods you can walk above it? just a suggestion. Bill PS sorry cannot send Sue, if we leave for a week, its 3 days work when we get back:Censored: |

| Oh sharks just my luck, I can but ask. Tell Sue she has done a magnificent job in the garden so have you Funnily enough we were going to pop in on our way back from Burgas but it got too late. This is the first time this has happend since we have been here and had many days of none stop rain but I think because the track leading down to our place now slops down by the gates and the delivery lorries coming inside has broke the side and the paths away hence the water from the slope track does not seem to bypass us now. See picture below might give you an idea what I mean..... I think we need a small wall like the one on the right hand side An upward slope will be laid from the track then other side leading down into the garden, that is assuming I can find anyone to help. | Hi Admin Not tried it, but to answer your question - Quote :
- And what is Dawn Dish soap
Dawn is a brand name for a detergent :- [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Probably as difficult to get that in Bulgaria as Epson salts ? Bill |

| Hi Berni - Quote :

I would agree with the wall idea, a three course breeze block structure, should do it on a concrete base, would also consider a drain trough under the gate. Bill Yes, thanks Bill not much good at building walls myself here is one I did yesterday Maybe practice makes perfect eh! Mind you saying that, it is still standing this morning and is very solid I tried to knock it down again to over lap the bricks but it would not budge so will leave it alone. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]No Ash the mixture did not work.... I read on the internet that if you have problems with weeds than pour boiling water over the weeds it cooks them ( but remember it will also kill anything esle nearby) Also just put salt on the weeds only I know this works as did this in my house in P'Boro,. It was great for clearing paths. |
