| Here I am again but if you don't ask!!! My GPS has shown that I am to use a ferry to cross the river from Romania to Bulgaria, now I understand that there is a road bridge having never been there before. To update my GPS can anyone give me obvious points to put in to find the bridge crossing rather than the ferry please? |

There is a €6 charge to cross the bridge which is unavoidable and when you see the state of the bridge you do have to wonder where the money goes., 1,700 miles and 4 days, for a new life'. | There are only two points where you can cross the Danube from Romania into Bulgaria.
The first is near Vratza, in the very North West of Bulgaria, this is a 'ferry' crossing (I say 'ferry' in quotes as it's more like a floating raft thing).
The other is the road bridge, over at Ruse in the North East of Bulgaria. |

| Thanks for that. What put me in doubt was that I looked on Google Earth and I could see the ferry but no road bridge. |

| there is a ferry which goes from calafat to vidin which will bring you to the north west end for bulgaria or a bridge to ruse. which is the north east end of bulgaria. we have used both but personnally tend to use the bridge which is cheaper and nearer to where we are. |

| A friend from Tutrakan said she was in the que for 4.1/2 hours last week. Her sons are flying to Bucharest in Oct and she has asked for our taxi driver to pick them up and take them to Silistra via the ferry crossing, so if you are going to Rom do go via Silistra and you can pop in and see us for a coffee too |

| Oh [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] everyone is complaining now here re the tail backs and how the ferries are full so quickly. I guess if it keeps up they will have to put more crossings on. The work on he bridge will continue for about a year or so... |
