I thought I would share this poem with you all as I like it
It was written by a good friend's Grand-daughter, Aged 11 years old
[size=150:28cp2hx0]Why do they sleep?
By Minnie Painter
The days are getting shorter, it’s starting to get dark,
It’s time to wrap up warm for a visit to the park.
The leaves are falling like rain from the sky,
It’s the sign autumn’s coming, waving summer good bye.
Why do they sleep when there’s so much to see?
The hedgehog, the dormouse huddled up by a tree.
They are missing the magic when the leaves change to red,
As they hibernate for winter tucked up in their bed.
They foraged and stored all the food they will need,
As they stock up for winter – their survival guaranteed.
When they wake their surrounds will all be transformed
From summer to winter, a miracle has been performed.
Every seasons special in its own different way,
But autumn is enchanted as you see the changes each day.
The crispy russet red and deep orange leaves
Will soon be stolen by the cold winter thieves.
The days are getting shorter, it’s starting to get dark,
It’s time to wrap up warm for a visit to the park.
The leaves are falling like rain from the sky,
It’s the sign autumn’s coming, waving summer good bye.
