| This may be of interest to at least one of our members.
Just read on Novinite site that a Chinese airline is trying to negotiate flights direct from Beijing to Sofia. |

| *Gulp* I would not want to fly with a Chinese airline over that distance! There is a saying: if it has China in the name, then don't fly it!! It is very easy to transfer through Hong Kong which has way more choice of Intenational carriers flying to Sofia - Finnair, Turkish, Qatar, KLM, Lufthansa etc. Oh and Aeroflot too... but I fancy flying with them as much as I would a Chinese airline  Any update on when that darned airport near VT is going to start operating properly? Now THAT would be good news!! |

An airport near us would be real handy, here we are in the middle of BG and the airports are either east or west, what a nuisance it all is with a 214 Klms journey in either direction or the same to plovdiv. Wake up BG, get your backsides into gear and give us an airport in the " " Middle" " of Bulgaria where we need one!!  |

| Handy or not, Eric..what you need is an airline willing to fly the two or three of you per week, back and forth to the UK! Until you can produce viable passenger numbers for the airline companies to consider, nothing is going to happen!
Airline companies demand airports..countries agree. |

I think for businesses - it will be. China and Bulgaria have a very special relationship. Bulgarians are in a very small minority of foreigners who don't need visas to stay in China. China is very keen on investment in Bulgaria due to a number of factors such as location, the potential for increased consumption in the region, and the similarities in Eastern European and Confucian ways of doing business however China feels that Bulgaria doesn't promote itself enough in China so you can see why the opening of a new route between the two would have positive stretegic implications. |
