Most Bulgarians Choose to Stay Home at New Year
Most Bulgarians are planning to remain at home over the new Year, according to the results of a poll carried out by the National Public Opinion Center.
Almost four out of five Bulgarians expected to stay at home this year, compared with 77% in 2008/09.
One in five (21%) will see in the New Year elsewhere, with 4% going to a restaurant or night club, 1% will be at their place of work, and 0,3% plan to attend a concert or outdoor party.
Despite the crisis, the poll revealed that the majority (56%) of Bulgarians remain optimistic about the country’s prospects for 2010, and 54% feel confident about their own personal fortunes in the year ahead.
The sociological survey of 1 000 people was conducted in the final week of November.
