There have been complaints over the years of poor service in Bulgarian retailers. I think its time to praise those who give good service. Having recently had a problem with ordering my printer online through Technomarket because I didn't look at the accessories column never thinking that a USB connector was classed as an accessory, I would like to praise their service when I telephoned their helpline. I had to forgo my limited Bulgarian to explain my problem and was put through to a very helpful man who told me what to do in perfect English.
I would also like to praise Vali Computers in VT who serviced my computer and told me to telephone if I had further problems. His name was Nikolai for those who have problems and he speaks good English.
It would be good if others posted praise where its due - we are all too quick to complain rather than praise.
While I'm at it, I should also give some praise to most of the staff of CBA in the pazaar. They always help me when needed and smile when I arrive at the check out! s

We can also sing the praises of the staff at Viva Vets in Dobrich who are always very polite and go out of their way to help when we need them.

I have to agree with you all on this subject..I've never had a bad experience with Technomarket, or Technopolis for that matter. Over the years, I have spent a reasonable amount of hard earned money in both stores and have had, on occasions, to call on warranty issues..without fail, all of these issues have been dealt with in a timely and professional manner. I know that some other folk, on this forum have bagged them in the past, but I can't help wondering if it might have been their attitude that caused the problems they experienced.

If I use a shop or outlet on a regular basis, I always try and remember the name of the person I'm dealing with, so that the next time I visit the facility, I can address them by name. Example: .whilst my wife has been laid up with a busted leg, I have been doing the shopping for the family and during the course of events, have been visiting three or four different supermarkets. All of the staff in these places wear a name tag, usually written in Bulgarian, but I make the effort to decipher it and address them by their chosen name..they are dead chuffed to have an Australian take the time to give them the time of day.

Credit where credit is due, I say. What goes around, will come around.

Must agree with this as we do the same. We were in Kaufland and the boss was at the deli while I was somewhere else in the store and the lady assistant asked my wife where I was. When I met with my wife and she told me I made a point of saying hello. It does not harm to be nice and you get lots of respect back as well. Plus you get good service as well g

I think that the main thing here is that retail staff are real people too..not just that girl, or that bloke who serves in the shop. Learning how to say 'thank you' and then actually saying it, goes a long way to breaking down barriers. It does work, because my wife and children have mentioned that the staff in this shop, or that has asked after me..and how they like serving me because I'm so polite. (blush). My late Mother would be proud.

So pleased I started this topic and it certainly shows that its your input that gets the service! My vets were absolutely brilliant and so caring after Xera's dispute with the neighbours guard dog and still ask me to phone her progress. The local shop lady always has a smile for us and we make sure we say hello and goodbye (in Bulgarian of course!) and appreciate the fact that she will order anything we particularly want. This has had the knock-on effect of giving more choice to the villagers too. Its always nice to smile at others in the shop too because in winter this is almost the most contact any of us have with each other.
Most of our conductresses on the bus give me a smile when I go to town and I recognise people from other villages. Its quite a social experience. So to sum up - a smile costs nothing and the lovely smiles back and helpfulness helps to make me feel happy to live in Bulgaria. I should end by mentioning that a smile always helps on my visits to Britain too. s

You know what? I've just had a phone call from the lovely girl who sold me my caravan! She didn't send an email because she wanted to reassure me about a problem that was worrying me. What can I say? In this day and age when few business people want to talk to you, I am so impressed by her simple gesture. Had a lovely chat and I will be seeing her in March with a box of chocs or maybe something healthier because I seem to remember she was on a diet! Little things mean a lot. Thats made my day. g
