Socks protect from potentially deadly illness

A man from Berkshire recently yielded to the wave of public opinion against the sock and sandal combination and mowed the lawn in sockless sandals. Big mistake.
A few days later, he was overcome with a migraine, high temperature, shivering, and a red leg. Within hours, he was hooked up to saline and antibiotic drips, and spent a long weekend in hospital recovering from advanced cellulitis (with the prospect of septicaemia), a condition that kills 1,000 people a year. All this because some insect enjoys nibbling a tasty foot or ankle.
He said he will, in future, abandon all attempts at sartorial elegance (he is, after all, over 37) and on every possible occasion wear his socks – probably blue, a colour apparently offensive to flying insects – regardless of his neighbours’ tutting.

Nothing wrong with wearing socks with sandles provided a knotted handkerchief is worn on the head to match with a string vest:-)

Yes, Speedgunner it has to be the ultimate in bad dress, especially if anything beige is worn with them. There is a habit in the UK of retired men being fully paid up members of the Beige Brigade. Dreadful colour, not a piece of it in my wardrobe.

Sandals with socks, tight denim shorts, pulled up as high as you can get them and belt done up 6'' above the navel, string vest and knotted hanky..what a picture of elegance!!

Yes, the mind boggles Bazz - especially if the waist size is 40 plus. What a sight!! Oops, nothing personal of course!
