Just a pointer about registering your vehicle to Bulgarian plates. I went to Varna with my truck to register it and a night mare came into view. I was told that all you needed was the DVLA registration doc of your vehicle and your Perminant residence ID card, wrong! I paid for a company to proccess my vehicle through the whole thing which if you don't could cause problems if you don't speak good Bulgarian, these companies are on site and they arrange the insurance and everything and cost me just short of 600 lv including the inspection.Off the man went with my registration and ID card to the office and came back and said that their system did not recognise my photo ID? I was told that this often happens with the ID cards issued at the immigration office???? Now I don't get this as both the immigration office and the vehicle registration office are both goverment run? Anyway I have sent my passport off for renewal so that option was out and the alternative was to come back with my company stamp the next day and put my vehicle as a company vehicle. My vehicle went through fairly quickly right up until it was time to fit my new plates! Three hour wait as I was number 35! The mechanics were quicker than the people fitting the plates for some reason. SO if you are registering your vehicle in Varna take your passport with you and your company stamp just in case along with plenty of patience!
