during this cold snap the electrics have been affected, my kettles have a mind of their own, the washer is blowing the electrics so that is out of use, my cooker cannot cook properly and my alarm is malfunctioning. we had a 14 hours power cut, my alarm panel began flashing and buzzing for a while, then went dead. the power returned at 4am and set the alarm off , we had trouble switching it off. we have had this system on contract for 5 years, silly question does the system use batteries as backup for power cuts, it is a signal alarm that goes direct to the company, but i have never had the panel die before in other power cuts. how does your alarm system work in a power cut. how to have fun in bulgaria

If it's a decent alarm it will have a built in battery backup which charges while its running as normal but with you power being off for so long it may have drained the backup completely so best to get it checked if its not running correctly.

Our alarm is supplied by the Police and it has a battery backup. I have set it off accidentally more than once. It is supposed to be a 5 minute armed response. Well it is. Scares the brown stuff out of you when you have to prove that it is your house at the end of a gun.
