i thought bulgaria was keen to fine you in many varied ways, but i think the uk is tops for fines and tax exploitation by miles, disgrace really.

Are the people for this idea total incapable of thinking about anything else but the way they lead their live, SORNS are not Simple. Lets do two options where this law is useless. 1) an old couple take a three months retirement cruise, there insurance is due whilst they are away but not their tax (luck! as the car would currently be crushed) they know they will need their car after their return to go shopping, it takes a few MINUTES to get new insurance over the phone at any time of night, but several WEEKS for the Policy document so they can be taxed, they aren't on the internet, how do they cope? 2) A woman becomes pregnant and decides in the later months not to drive, her insurance is due in this period, her husband decides he will use the car occasionally using his cover on his own motor, therefore the car is insured for his use, he is not the owner, NO OFFENCE has taken place at any time, Any accident would have been covered, so why the draconian laws about constant car cover?

Well apart from being unlawful in Common Law (regarding private land) AND the fact that the DVLA is a PRIVATE company AND that the government may not pass legislation that contravenes Common Law it's almost "
flawless"
in it's principle . I totally agree that uninsured driver are a menace but feel that simply including third party insurance in the road tax would be a far easier way of dealing with it and a lot easier for the police to implement, did I mention that a "
fine"
may ONLY be imposed by a "
lawful court"
? Brilliant in it's obvious stupidity but, it is a problem that needs addressing but, perhaps by people who actually KNOW what they are doing.
