| How I hate these things! They scuttle about at great speed, too quick for a brush or similar to whack them with! Anyone know the most effective way of getting rid of them? I spray Raid around the doors and windows regularly (except when I used furniture polish by mistake!) but still they come. I don't mind most creepy-crawlies and am not afraid of spiders, but these things really freak me - and my husband - out. Even the dog won't go near them. Do they bite? Now I'm really scaring myself. Help! :Please: :P1: |

| We never used to get them - But, this year, for the first time, we have loads. I am told they do not bite and actually eat a lot of other nasty insects found in houses!!!
Does that make you feel any better about them???? |

| Thanks Esta, but I am still scared! When the bedside light gets switched off, I just imagine them all rampaging about and actually landing on the bed. Perhaps I need counselling!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I also heard that they do nip. Hope you are right. |

| If the centipede is black and orange in colour then do not touch it with bare hands look up on the net Insects Found in BG and learn more. This particular one is dangerous and can bite it is also recommended that if bitten then seek medical treatment. So sorry to scare you but best to be honest. |

| Scunnered, I was assuming you were talking about those brown things that dash around the walls at night? |

| Yes, those are the ones!!!! I don't like the look of them close up - wish I had not seen that!!!!
But they do eat so many other nasties - and they do scuttle away as you go near them - rather them than spiders, ants etc etc. |

| They're back! I hadn't seen any all summer, but they are now back with a vengeance. I'm sure I go through more raid on them than everything else combined! I go round the house at night with a can of it in my hand before I go to bed. Not that I'm paranoid of course! Anybody else have this irrational fear? I don't mind any other creepy-crawlies, and quite like spiders! |
