| Below is a picture you will all recognise
Yes its Madeleine McCann and the metropolitan police along with Scotland yard have been ordered to reopen the case by David Cameron. I have every sympathy as a parent with them for the loss of their child. However in constantly blaming the Portuguese police they seem to forget it was their choices which made their daughter vulnerable in the first place. According to previous articles it appears the children were left on their own on other nights causing Maddie to ask her mother why didn't you come when we cried ( on the night before Maddie was taken). It is tragic that after this the parents still went to the bar leaving the children unattended, and one thing many find hard to understand. Whatever the circumstances it can only be hoped that Maddie is still alive. But I have to say Will the British police be getting involved in finding the many, many other missing British children around the world? Why didn't the mother of Ben Needham get the support from the Government and media that the McCanns have received? Oh that's right, Kerry Needham was a single mother from a working class background, whereas the McCanns are a middle class married couple. I'm NOT saying that the police shouldn't work to help find Madeleine, but if they're doing this for ONE child, they should do it for them ALL. |

| The Portuguese police were hampered in their investigation by the non co-operation of the McCanns who were perfectly happy with the police until they attempted to rule out Kate and Gerry which was a legitimate line of questioning. The investigation was on behalf of Madeleine, not the McCanns. British police would have done the same. The private investigator's involvement further muddied the waters with false leads being thrown up and still no progress was made.I would hope that the Met would be open to possibilities other than abduction because the McCanns have made it clear that they don't wish any other explanation to be investigated. It's about Maddie who deserves a coherent, full and proper investigation as to what happened to her. I hope Madeleine is found but this is all too little too late. If the McCanns want the case investigated again, then they can go to Portugal, get the case re-opened, and cooperate with the police. They want a 'transparent review', then they need to answer all those questions that they refused to answer initially, and may be then the police would be able to move the case forward. One question I would ask is why are the McCann's getting this continual press coverage and now we learn Scotland Yard have got involved. Is the same provisions going to be made for the many other missing children ?? Ben Needham is one major example As mentioned. The press coverage to plug a book is getting a little tiring now. It is tragic to have lost a child in this manner but many other families are ripped apart in the same way but never get this continual amount of publicity other than possibly a mention on Crime-watch. |

| I am forever hopeful that Madeline will be found and pleased that the British police will get fully involved, I know lots of children go missing and I really do feel for their parents but this beautiful innocent little girl was so badly let down by her own parents she deserves the very best efforts the rest of us can give her. |

| I see some flaws here. What if the Portuguese police say " thanks but no thanks" , interfering in their investigation is a no no. Why the Met? The McCanns don't live in London. Who is paying for the Met involvement? The government is so vehemently cutting police budgets. Also the Met have no jurisdiction in Portugal |

| according to the newspapers the met are reopening the case but have refused to fund it. it will be paid for out of a social fund. i really hope they find the little girl but what i would really like to know is how did her parents not get prosecuted for neglect and abandonment ? |

| I can't see that this will help at all after all this time, if she is alive? I don't think anyone would recognise her now and at the age she was then she will have forgotten most things and eventually everything so their hopes really are pointless although it must be very hard to give up on your child. I don't think that its right that they are being give this extra help when there are so many missing children who don't get anywhere near the publicity that this has had so its a tad unfair if you ask me. |

| Its very sad this is but I do think there are some serious questions to be answered and more to the point why no action has been taken against the parents for for leaving their children alone in the first place no matter how far away they say they were? |

| If they had been in England they would have had the twins taken into care by Social Services, both parents had excellent jobs and should have set a good example and paid a nanny to look after them while they went out for a meal, that is my honest opinion. |
