| I have had an email from the campsite today and tomorrow morning there will be a TV crew there filming any Brits there about the ROYAL WEDDING! The campsite is providing a free breakfast and Bucks Fizz to those willing to get up early for the programme. The campsite want to know who will come to get numbers for the breakfast. Oh and ladies wear you hat! Sounds a great 'do'. Just thought I would pass this info on. Hope the weather improves. |

Tickets are 20 leva for adults, 10 leva for children, and include many activities such as entrance to the swimming pool and archery.
There will be a small charge for other activities such as raffles. All proceeds to the charity.
Activities start at noon and go on until late. food will be ready about 4/5 o'clock - there will also be evening entertainment (included). It should be a really great day.

NB Tickets will be limited and strictly on a first come, first served basis so reserve yours now! (The last barbecue was oversubscribed and several people were disappointed!) |

English entrepreneurs engaging in green tourism in Bulgaria
The true lovers of nature prefer to rest in the open air under the starry skies. They are not seduced by hotel amenities and are glad to be able to escape from the clatter of urban life. When holiday time comes, these tourists take their tents and sleeping bags and head for camp-sites at the seaside or in the mountains. In Bulgaria, however, good camp-sites offering modern amenities are very few. Despite that, Bulgaria has all necessary prerequisites to turn into a heavenly place for all camping lovers. This is what Nick and Nicky Kinson say – they are a young family from Great Britain owning a small camp-site near the town of Velico Tarnovo, in Central Bulgaria.
In the past, Bulgaria had wonderful camping sites located at some of the wildest recesses of nature, and thousands of Bulgarian and foreign tourists from the former Socialist countries used to vacation there. All it took was to open the map of Bulgaria, choose a picturesque spot or a natural landmark and usually you could find a well-maintained camp-site nearby where you could park your caravan or put up your tent. The years following Socialism had a negative impact on the camping business in Bulgaria. Within a very short time, many green oases of tranquillity were lost to luxury hotels, villa houses, ski lifts and runs, and others. Because of the endless legal disputes ensuing from the privatization of lands, numerous camp-sites in Bulgaria are abandoned, and their crumbling bungalows made people nostalgic about the times when these places were bustling with life.
Nevertheless, there are still some quite attractive camping sites in Bulgaria, offering all modern amenities. Curiously enough, this market niche in Bulgaria is often taken by foreign entrepreneurs who own and maintain some of our best camping sites. One such example is the family of Nick and Nicky Kinson from Great Britain – owners of a small camp-site near the Veliko Tarnovo village of Dragijevo. Nicky Kinson remembers her first impressions of Bulgaria when they first arrived in 2005:
Two yeas later, after a number of administrative obstacles, the Kinsons started building a new camp-site. They are keen environmentalists, and environmental protection is one of their preoccupations. Warm water and electricity in their camp-site is supplied using 5 big solar panels, solar lamps are used, and lighting is made possible by a photocell. Waste water is purified by a non-conventional purification system based on natural biological processes. The camp-site has earned the “Green House” distinction of quality bestowed by the Bulgarian Association for Alternative Tourism for good practices in tourism. Tourists camping there have also assessed the strict observance of European environmental standards. In most cases, these are rich tourists who can afford luxury holidays in the most exotic parts on the globe but they prefer parking their caravans in some of our camping sites and be close to nature. “We welcome guests from all around the world, including people on a world tour coming from Australia or New Zealand, and we are trying to make their stay here as enjoyable as possible and get them to know Bulgaria”, Nick Kinson says and adds:
" The Kinsons will treat you to lovely home-cooked meals made with organic products bought from local producers. This summer, courses in traditional Bulgarian pottery making will be organized at the camp-site. Another new attraction will be a stroll with a horse-drawn cart to neighbouring villages. The desire of the Kinsons is to offer their guests an unforgettable experience amid Bulgaria’s beautiful nature"
