Darina Pavlova, a former Bulgarian model, has been named by Italian media rumors as the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's long-term girlfriend.

Berlusconi, 74, stated last weekend he was in a "
stable intimate relationship with a woman"
, thus hitting back at the allegations of using underage prostitutes. Subsequently, Italian pundits have named several allegations about who the mysterious woman in the Italian Prime Minister's life is.

, the Bulgarian Darina Pavlova is the lady in question.

Pavlova is the widow of Iliya Pavlov, a businessman murdered in a gangland hit in the murky times after the fall of Communism. She has been a regular guest of the Italian Prime Minister and their friendship has been by the Italian and Bulgarian public for years.

Speaking to the former Bulgarian PM Sergei Stanishev back in 2009 , Berlusconi joked: "
The truth is Darina Pavlova has a fantastic daughter - and you know my interest in minors."

Berlusconi weakened by sex scandal

Allegations that Silvio Berlusconi hooked up with prostitutes he kept in rent-free luxury apartments have outraged the Church, weakened the government and damaged Italy’s image abroad, experts say.
Italy was reeling yesterday in the wake of an announcement that Italian magistrates have opened an enquiry into the billionaire prime minister’s wild sex life and his relationship with an underage girl, known as Ruby.
News of the investigation came just days after a court ruling partially stripped the prime minister of political immunity.
While having sex with prostitutes is not a crime in Italy, having sex with a minor has been punishable with a prison sentence since Mr Berlusconi’s right-wing government voted in a law against it in 2006.
On Monday Milan prosecutor’s office made public a document with evidence that “a significant number of young girls prostituted themselves with Silvio Berlusconi in his residences in exchange for sums of money.”
Influential Catholic daily Avvenire yesterday called for Mr Berlusconi to clean up his act.
“Even the idea that the head of state institutions is implicated in stories of prostitution – and even worse, prostitution of a minor – is harmful and shocking,” Marco Tarquinio wrote in a front-page editorial.
The Vatican has not commented on the affair, nicknamed “Rubygate”, but Italian media claimed members of Mr Berlusconi’s centre-right government feared losing the support of the Church, a key ally in the mainly Catholic country.
Sources close to the prime minister were quoted by ANSA news agency as saying “If the Vatican... should ditch us, it would all be over.”
Prosecutors have collected wire-taps, leaked to the press, revealing details about sleazy parties held at the prime minister’s residence near Milan.
“The accusations are very serious indeed,” Franco Pavoncello, political science lecturer at the John Cabot University in Rome told AFP. “Considering the current weakness of the government... it’s likely to lead to early elections,” he said.
Prosecutors claim to have obtained “ample proof” which would warrant a probe into the addresses which the 74-year-old Berlusconi loaned rent-free to the young women who attended his parties.
In wire taps ordered by Milan’s prosecutors of conversations between Ruby and friends, the Moroccan, whose real name is Karima El Mahroug, said she had asked Silvio for five million euros compensation for having sullied her name.
President Giorgio Napolitano said in a statement yesterday he was “well aware of the turmoil of public opinion” and hoped the Milan’s prosecutor’s office would “finish verifying the results of the enquiry as soon as possible.”
The leader of the opposition Democratic Party (PD), Pier Luigi Bersani, called on Mr Berlusconi to resign and submit himself to the inquiry.
But Roberto D’Alimonte, lecturer in political sciences at Luiss University in Rome, said the scandal would probably not affect the prime minister’s position.
“Silvio Berlusconi is a libertine, the most libertine of all the G8 leaders, but libertinism is not a crime. In Italy it’s not even a political consideration, his voters elect him anyway,” he said.
Italian media voiced the country’s embarrassment.
“If the magistrates don’t manage to prove there was a crime, we’re still left with the image, with the moral question, for Italy and our credibility abroad,” the left-leaning Repubblica daily said.
Mr Berlusconi has not yet publicly responded to the document released on Monday. The media magnate, a notorious womaniser, has previously admitted he is “no saint” but claimed he never paid for sex.
Both he and Ms Ruby, a disco dancer who is now 18, have denied having had sexual relations.
In a video message released last Sunday he raged against the “laughable, unfounded accusations”, saying he had “had a stable relationship” since splitting up with his wife, Veronica Lario, in 2009.

Second Minor Named in Berlusconi Sex Scandal

Another 17-year-old girl has been named as participating in the alleged sex parties, organized by Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi.

The BBC reported that the girl, named as Iris Berardi, attended one of the parties days before turning 18. According to Italian reports, she was knows to the police as a prostitute.

The new details have emerged from documents submitted by the Prosecutor's Office to a parliamentary committee. Berlusconi claimed the allegations against him as politically motivated.

According to the Italian legislation, using the services of prostitutes is not a crime, but paying an underage girl for sex is offense.

Berardi's presence at Berlusconi's villas in Sardinia and Milan has been proven by mobile phone record. She allegedly attended a party in Sardinia on November 21, 2009 – days before turning 18, and a party near Milan in December the same year.

The 74-year-old Berlusconi has refused to attend questioning on the matter. He has stated that the magistrates are pursuing a political vendetta against him.

Prosecutors have also accused him of having had sex with the Kariba el-Mahroug, a girl of Moroccan origin known as Ruby, who attended one of Berlusconi's parties when she was 17.

Both she and the Italian PM have denied having sexual relations. Mahroug has described the sum of EUR 7,000 that she received from Berlusconi as a "
