Bulgarian Double Murder Case Family: Minister Must Apologize
The relatives of the murdered Kardzhali woman gave a special press conference over their indignation with the Interior Minister premature judgment.
:
:, relatives and co-workers of the woman who was recently murdered in the southern Bulgarian city of Kardzhali demand an apology from Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov.
They blame the Minister for stating who the killer was before even the start of the due process and for talking publicly about the live of the family involved and of the murdered woman as unfit mother.
36-year-old, Nevdzhin Shevket, a day care nurse, was found dead in her home Saturday. Several hours later, police discovered the body of her 7-year-old son on the roof of the apartment building where the family lived.
Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, announced that same day, the other son, Nevdzhin Dzhuneyt, 17, confessed murdering his mother and brother.
Tsvetanov said the reason for the murder has been long-lasting family drama and neglect of Dzhuneyt on the part of the mother, who strongly favored the younger boy.
"
They made my sister look like a monster,"
Shevket's brother Ekrem Mustafa said at a press conference.
The friends and the relatives asked to be interrogated, and demanded information about Dzhuneyt, saying they were kept in the dark and had no idea what was happening with the teenager.
"
He is a minor. Imagine 3-4men asking him if he had killed his mother. Maybe these confessions have been forced. He needs to have someone close with him and a psychologist. If this was Tsvetanov's child would he do the same?"
the upset family members say.
:
: and relatives further requested to be told what was the motive for the murder;
where was Dzhuneyt the night before;
why he had confessed about the killings, but not about the murder weapon. (The murder weapon, a knife, has not yet been discovered.)
Ekrem said none of the people who knew the family believe a person in their right mind could commit such brutal act, and the perpetrator must have been on drugs, but added Dzhuneyt had never used drugs or alcohol.
The family has not yet told Shevket's mother and Dzhuneyt's grand-mother about the tragedy over worries how she would react. The father and husband has been sedated after falling apart upon hearing about the murders.
The close-ones condemned Tsvetanov's statements Shevket was favoring the younger brother and left the older one without attention, love or gifts, saying this was not true at all.
"
He had everything – brand label clothes, cosmetics, top-of-the-line video games and computers,"
the family said.
