Sofia City Hall Registers 350 Unsafe Buildings
The Bulgarian capital Sofia currently has about 350 unsafe and dangerous buildings, according to the city's Chief Architect, Petar Dikov.
Dikov says the City Hall has a list of those buildings, and it was created in the aftermath of the 2006 tragedy in downtown Sofia when two young women were killed after a building collapsed on top of their car stuck in a traffic jam.
The Chief Architect stated three main issues with unsafe buildings – shortage of funding to demolish them;
tenants refusing to vacate the premises;
private ownership or unknown owners, all interfering with the City Hall's attempts to deal with the problem.
Are we surprised :shocked1:I would also add that maybe this figure is much higher
