The deadline for ending the repair works on Asparuhov Bridge - June 15 will be respected. This was assured by Varna's Darik Nikolay Pashov, executive director of Hydrostroy, the company responsible for the repair of the facility.
Today, the third stage of the repair works on bridge 2 and 4 is over, and the final stage is starting tomorrow. It includes laying joints that work on the linear extension of the bridge, finishing of limiting systems, horizontal marking and vertical signaling, as well as pavement finishing and pedestrian approaches to the bridges, Pashov explained.
Even if there were rains, that would not hinder compliance, he said.
"Asphalting is already over and even flooding, it will not affect the work activities," Pashov commented.
He acknowledged that the organization of the bridge traffic hinders drivers, but has assured that it is not technologically possible to allow traffic on the new joints. An average of 60 people work on the site daily. There are activities that allow a three-shift mode, but others require a wait, the Hydrostroy chief said.
At the moment, 35 to 40 workers and specialists are working on the bridge depending on the tasks. It is also repaired with extended working hours.
The repairs of Asparuhov Bridge are financed by the Road Infrastructure Agency. It will pay nearly 1.3 million BGN with VAT. The municipality will allocate BGN 200 thousand. The amount is the same as in the last year's repair, Pashov explained. The warranty provided by the company is legally required - 4 years for pavements and 10 for facilities.
