I'm going to ask a question here that might be a bit controversial and its not aimed at anyone in particular so here goes, Ive noticed that on this forum that there are some members who are also members on other forums but use a different user name and I just wondered why this was? is it because they have something to hide? or some other reason? and if so what?

I can understand the question. But how many forums people go on is a matter of personal choice I was always associated with Quest up until very recently. I have also joined this and another forum. Although the other one I no longer use as I find some of the topics and subsequent replies a bit less than tasteful.

Should be interesting to see if other people are as up front as I am

The Quest forum was a bit different Tony as it was me that dished out usernames, etc., to subscribers.

Therefore, every member was under their real name with their real photograph, etc. Which, personally, I believe is why we never had any bother and few crossed words on there during the four years it was running.

(personally, I wish more people would sign up to forums with a real name and photo rather than 'hiding' behind the internet. Never ceases to amaze me what 'anonymous' users will say to people online that wouldn't dare look you in the eye if you crossed on the street).

I use a username...but I will say exactly the same to anyone online as i would say to them face to face and looking them in the eye..

Well put Chris but I'm sure that varnagirl is much prettier than the avatar she uses and having said that I do know that she does use the same user id wherever she goes. it would be nice if peeps used their own photo and name, although of course we don't insist! and in some case there may be good reason???

just wondered how you would know who is who unless they use the same name,or they are reconized by their picture Avitar,so the reply is not off topic but a reply to your question

Hi mickhev its just something I picked up over the many years I have been visiting forums and the funny thing is this is the only one I have ever joined as I was saying when I read the topics on the various forums I can see how they are written and sometimes you will also find that other users refer to the poster by their real name which is also a bit of a giveaway no secrets I'm afraid just observation and at my age 69 I have plenty of time to do that
