| Thank you for reading my situation
I have longed to live in Bulgaria (since 1964 when I was 8 years of age when my family were to be 'took' to Bulgaria from the UK by my very politically active communist father)
I live in Australia, Queensland and have done for 10 years. I am an Australian Citizen. I also have a UK Passport being born in the North East of England and lived there for 40 years. My partner is an Australian Citizen only (we can get married at any time)
I am 53 she is 47 children have grown up and left. Joanna is a flute player and classical musician. I am a counsellor (of the mind) and would like to become an organic vegetable grower, although Id do anything I had to. Even retire if it meant getting a visa to stay there long term
we would be taking to Bulgaria around $500,000(AUSD) I believe thats around 669,262 BGN (LEVA) (I think)
any ideas guys and gals...Ive aranged a house swap for two weeks in July in Bulgaria to have a look at properties
any process you can help me with whats the first steps then second (Im an ABC type of person there seems to be so much conflicting information on the net although Im ready for the process
thanks kindly for any replies

| PS. Forgot to mention.
Both UK and Australian passport holders are allowed to stay up 90 days here without a Visa.
If you wish to stay longer, then you need to apply for a long-term residence permit. |

| Hi Steve
If you're only setting up your company to purchase the property, then no.
However, you have to submit a 'zero' tax return at the end of the year.
An accountant can do this for you for a very small fee.

| Hi Steve
This is a bit more difficult to answer without knowing your personal circumstances!
I believe that even with a UK passport, you can only apply for EU health certificate if you have been, and still are, paying your Health Insurance contributions in the UK.

| Hi Steve
I would think because you have paid into the health insurance in the uk, you can get a european insurance card you should be able to apply online, the department of works and pensions web page should tell you

| I wish you well on your venture, you are both young to retire and if living without gauranteed income you need to calculate your living costs per year, many, many people who did not work this out have found sadly they no longer can afford to live here.
welcome to the forum and good luck. |

| Steve
you dont need a visa you can get a residence card as long as you have a bank account in bulgaria (you can open one with 5 lv) and you have an address (which can be the estate agent) and your passport and the card will be for as long as your passport runs up to 5 years then after you have bought and settled down, and five years have gone by you can then apply for a long term pass,
