| just a question, my newish neighbours have just planted a row of conifers on the other side of the wall, 3 metres. no problem now, but if i live long enough to see them grow, they will eventually block all my light, i know there have been real problems with conifers in the uk, but what about in bulgaria as anything seems to go here. not one to moan, but this would be a future problem, ok now but in 5 years or so,mmmmmmmm just curious. |

| With any property you or your neighbour have the right to plant what you like within the rules laid down. Conifers are acceptable I'm afraid and have every sympathy with you as we had them growing in our next door garden in the UK. They can block light as they grow 1 foot in every year and the roots although shallow can also cause problems. Basically it all depends on how well you get on with these people. If they are Bulgarian they usually do most anything to please you so keeping them trimmed should not be a problem. You can of course have a word with the mayor if a dispute arises, if he/she is anything like ours common sense will prevail.
Hope this helps. Tony |

| Sorry to hear about your neighbours. We had similar ones in the UK. Wanted respect from us when he was working as he got up at 5 am. Then when he retired he played radio 4 at full pelt until 3 am. Sorted him out though one weekend . Brass band music at 2 am we had no more trouble after that. Also piled all the conifer cuttings that over hanged our garden that I pruned off, in front of his front door as they were not mine to be rid of, as that would be stealing. He was not a happy bunny |

| This year we have noticed a huge tree outside our back gate, it was ok during the winter no leaves but now it has just shot up and put - the street light will be covered be fore long and at the rate it is growing we will have no sun in our garden at all. Someone said to hammer rusty nails into it and it stops its growth - not sure about that. Not sure if we are allow to cut it either as it is council property. I don; t understand why people plants such huge trees in gardens and surrounding areas. The house about 8 doors down had 3 conifers in the garden when he moved in - they must be at least 50ft plus high - he was quoted £900 to cut them back and £3000 to take them out. Oddy |

| if it affects lighting, electric cables, telephone lines it can be trimmed but not cut down, they do it all the time here, all the back roads, the trees cover vital lines and they cut them back pretty severe too, maybe i can do that to them conifers when they get that high, lol, only joking, will be long gone before they present a problem. but they have been a real problem in the uk, growing to enormous heights and causing neighbour problems, even cilla black had to conform in the end as her conifers were too big, she contested it but lost in the end. the one thing that bulgaria has here, is fertile land, anything grows, 2 doors down the weeds are 20 foot and you cannot see the road until the autumn, fertile it is. yes you can trim it but all is protected from removing it. |

| It is easy to kill a conifer. Two methods.
Cut a ring around the bark with a Stanley Knife.
Drill a small hole about 2 inches deep and pour in battery acid.
Both methods are un-detectable if you are clever but the trees take time to die.
