Ash Rain Threatens Bulgaria
[size=75:3ktbu1v8]Bulgarian weathermen hope that an anticyclone will blow away the volcanic cloud
Black rain may pour over Bulgaria tomorrow, unless an anticyclone blows to Ukraine the volcanic cloud coming from Iceland. Half of the European sky went pitch black yesterday as a volcano in Iceland spewed tons of dust and soot thousands of meters up into the atmosphere. Most European countries closed their aerospace and traffic control services cancelled more than 17,000 flights. The airports across Europe are full of weary passengers who are trying to find a way to continue their journey.
Reportedly, the cloud is drifting at about 40 km/h at an altitude used by most of the airlines in Europe. The situation in northern Germany and the northwestern parts of Poland is the most serious and the cloud is expected to reach Romania today.
There is a good chance that the air flows carry the cloud away from Bulgaria, weathermen say.
