British band Morcheeba will play in Sofia in June
The British band Morcheeba will perform for the first time in Bulgaria during the Park Live Fest in Sofia, scheduled to take place on June 18-20 Morcheeba will play on the last day, on June 20.
Notably, the band will arrive in Bulgaria with its original singer Skye Edwards who was in the band from 1995 until 2003 and then embarked on a solo career.
Morcheeba incorporates, very successfully, influences from trip hop, rock, rhythm and blues and pop. Their most popular albums include debut Who Can You Trust? and Big Calm. The band is perhaps most famous for its releases and singles "
Rome Wasn't Built in a Day"
and "
The Sea"
. The group has sold around six million copies around the world.
Reportedly, the band gravitated together sometime around the mid-1990s, with the Godfrey brothers (DJ Paul Godfrey and Ross Godfrey) joining forces with Skye who was drafted in the formation as a vocalist. Interestingly enough, they all met during a party in which both brothers were introduced to Skye. And legend has it that this is how Morcheeba came about.
After a break of several years, Morcheeba released their sixth studio album, Dive Deep in February 2008.
On February 12 2010, New Musical Express reported that Skye Edwards was once again working with the band, and was supposed to make her live return with the band at the Caprices Festival, Switzerland, scheduled for April 9 2010.
It is part of this reunion tour, that will see the famous British band perform before their fans in Sofia.
