Good News or is it [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

If the money is not going to come in through card charges then it will increase actual prices on the item

The government ban on surcharges follows a 2015 directive from the European Union, which capped card interchange fees at 0.2% and 0.3% of transaction value.
For example, if you bought a £300 flight with a card, the airline company only needs to pay the card payment provider (Visa or Mastercard) £0.90 (0.3% of £300).

but we wont be in the European Union, will we

I must be what you would call '0ld school'...I don't have a credit card so I pay cash wherever I go...if you don't take cash, you don't get my business!! I have a debit card, issued by my Australian bank and it works fine at ATMs in every EU country I've visited...provided I don't use it (the card) more than eight times in any calendar month, there are no fees or charges whatsoever.
Works for me.

That's wonderful Bazz, unfortunately if we use a UK debit or credit card here in BG the charges mount up, so I don't bother I just transfer a set amount until I need more.  In the UK we have interest charged if you do not clear the card monthly and this is how so many people get into trouble with cards. There are no charges on debit cards.  Here in BG I am sure I am charged for everything I never get a statement so only check if I go into the bank, which is not often.

I had an account with First Investment some years ago the none active business account.  I was charged 6lev a month for the account so I closed it, the lawyer we used took all the money out and left me with bank charges of 300 odd lev. I had no idea until I went to the bank to check the balance.  I opened a personal account but they would not give me a debit card until we had the litchen carter. The next bank we went to had no problem what so ever giving me a debit card.   I wanted to take out 3000lev from First Investment so went in to do the forms then when I went to sign it I noticed 16lev charges I asked her why as I only pay 1lev every other time she said it is because your are taking out more than 1000lev so I ripped the forms up and said can I have 1000lev please. Went back the next day and the day after to get the rest.  The are very quick to take your money and I can't understand why you should pay for taking your own money out. But all they say is 'This is Bulgaria we have to pay taxes'

I hear what you're saying about the BG banks Berni...I gave up on using them (except for the ATM service) a few years ago. Is this good News 794030042
