| I recently came across this interesting tidbit while checking in on a science site that I often visit and thought that I might throw it out as a question to members, the answer surprised me!
If the known universe was reduced in size to the size of London, what would be the size of our solar system (relative to onother object i.e. football pitch, house etc.)?

I'm guessing...so small to be almost invisible to the naked eye.

Nice answer Bazz and along the right lines, but can you be more specific? The naked eye is a little subjective and relative to things such as eyesight and gender, for instance to the male of the species a sock on the bedroom floor or the cap of a toothpaste tube can be invisible to the naked eye, and likewise to a woman the price label on a new pair of shoes

Absolutely Correct It was calculated by Dr. Andrew Pontzen that the size of our solar system at this scale would be the size of a single atom Humbling isn't it

A pretty good one at that, considering that salt atoms (that normal standard because of their average size and the cubic structure of a salt crystals) are 1/10000000mm in size, just goes to show how vast the universe is
