The original referendum should have had a 10/15 year ban on having another. If this goes ahead it should have a generational limit on having another one. The SNP have been campaigning since the last one was lost instead of running the country.

One of the reasons given to the Scottish voters for staying in the union was they would have to re-apply to the EU and that acceptance was not a forgone conclusion. Since that vote the UK has decided to leave the EU taking Scotland with them, this I think is a big enough change for the Scottish people to be allowed to a second vote. Had we decided to stay in the EU then a call for a second vote would not have be valid.

Let them go ... they already get free university education, free care for the elderly, free prescriptions etc etc etc ... all things we in England subsidise and we in England can only dream about. Furthermore let them join the EU on their own as then Brussels can tell them to take in the thousands and thousands of migrants from all over Europe and the middle east, its just a short skip and a step from England to Scotland ....... you can fund the social care, the cost of rehousing them their and health and policing the issues that will without doubt arise .... there is an old saying ... be careful what you wish for!

You have made some good points there Andy, I have just read what you have written to my wife and she is Scottish, she totally agrees with you, perhaps that is why she has been married to me (a man of Kent) for 50 years g
Another thing worth a mention, is do we know how strong the EU will be in the future, because if our exit is seen to be successful how many other countries could follow

THERE WILL BE NO SECOND REFERENDUM !!! There is nothing in the written or unwritten part of the constitution that says there must be one. Sturgeon must get approval from Westminster and Westminster is not likely to betray the majority that voted against splitting up the UK. Sturgeon is dreaming as usual and has mistaken her role as Scotland's first minister. She believes it gives her power over Scotland. It does not. It merely gives her the right to approach the UK parliament on behalf of Scotland.

It's sad that Scottish people cannot see what Nichola is doing to their country. They need someone without the big ego. Someone to work with others instead of wedging the 'we must be separate from everyone else' idea. Being part of England should be a plus not a minus for everyone. Nicola you've had your say, now leave!

The problem with Scotland getting independence is they can't afford to support themselves. What will happen when the 16 billion we currently send stops and the MOD moves to England! I'd love to see them become independent but it's just not viable with sturgeon in charge because she will destroy Scotland just to make the history books!
