As do I, the procedure as I understand it is this; when the petition attains 10000 signatures the Government must make a response (the responses, however, are often weak and meaningless. Check the response for the petition to make lying by a politician illegal  ). If the petition reaches 100000 signatures then the committee for these matters (made up of 11 MP's) decide whether the matter should be debated in parliament. The petition should gain momentum as the number signatories increases as it is only by chance that I stumbled across it, but as the numbers increase then so does it's profile. |
