Hi Guys Some sad news

As you know we have had some big changes in Social Services here with the orphanages/disability homes etc in Bulgaria including our beloved Dimcho Debelianov which the website was named after but that has now closed therefore, the web designer Chris, the web manager Bill and myself have decided that it is time to move on and close the site.

We thought about renaming and transferring everything to a new host but that would be costly and we would have to start all over again. Therefore, closing it down is the best option for us right now. A massive big THANK YOU to Bill and Chris you guys are just amazing always there for us no matter what we need. Thank you for the time and all the effort you put into building, designing and managing the website over the years, you did great and it has been a great source of information for everyone. Well done!

We have come a long long way in the past 8 years and we are very proud of what we have achieved and it's all thanks to you guys our Admin Ashley our sponsors and members on here. Bryan [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] has been brilliant and always there with his camera to capture the wonderful times we all had.

Thank you all, you have supported us in different ways throughout the years and we are very very grateful indeed.

We set out to give the children of BG the simple basic qualities to improve their lives and we have exceeded this over and over in many ways, not only for the children/young adults but the elderly and various others a total of 33 establishments who are now part of their communities and no longer outcasts.

We all did great! Thank you all.

End of an ara but a good one I have to say. What you have done over all the years I'm sure will be remembered for many years to come and the childrens who's lives you have improved they will never forget you. Well done to you and all your troops Berni you truly are a very wonderful lady

Ah bless you thank you hun that is lovely We had some great times and many of the children keep in touch via Facebook, some are married now with families of their own, others are living or working in the USA, Italy, Canada, France and Spain so it is great to see them grow into lovely caring adults, they never forget their roots when they are in Silistra they always visit the Dimcho and it is amazing the things they do actually remember. We have been so blessed to have been able to share in their lives.....

Time to move on the pastures new and what I mean is its now your time to relax a little and enjoy each other. you have give a lot more than most of your life to help others less fortunate. I wish you all the best and hope you will try and chill and enjoy the life in front of you.

When you sent me a pm I said I would respond after you had made it public to close the website, so here you are:-

I have been very privileged to know you, the good you have done and the results you have achieved in Bulgaria. The memories of the annual parties and seeing a lot of the children growing up into young ladies and young men The countless hours and dedication you put into your projects, we, on the outside only read about your achievements and how you managed to twist peoples arms to help with packing shoe boxes, knitting various garments, wrapping up all the goods onto pallet boards and getting them transported and distributed to various outlets in Bulgaria, You have had a lot of support from various sponsors and by golly how you have deserved it, and of interest what has happened to all the lovely bunk-beds and bedding, all the bicycles, the computers, etc etc.

Two years ago I made two applications for Berni to receive some sort of honour in the New Year and the Queens birthday list
I filled in the sixteen page document and sent various photo's and additional information received from The British/Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, the Bulgarian Ambassador in London, the MD of the Silistra Orphanage, our own Ashley, Chris, Bill etc and all having to keep their lips tight together. I did get an acknowledgement to say the application would be considered, but that was that. I suppose you have got to be a footballer or in show business, earning (getting) thousands a week to be considered. You can draw for that, I was very angry and disappointed that Berni did not receive what should have been something to treasure for the rest of her life, now I am afraid you have to rely on many fantastic memories

I am not going to tell you what you should do now (you wouldn't listen anyway) but slow down a bit, and enjoy your home and garden, do some travelling and as a suggestion try to get some of your forum supporters together and have a rave up

Berni, You are a wonder woman and a mother superior, a woman who put's other people first and always reminds us that there is always somebody out there worse off that us. As you know our lives in Bulgaria have not always been easy but as true friends you have always been there to help and console
