Cheap Foods and Garments Dominate Bulgarian Market
The new 2010 will be the year in which discount stores will gain strong positions on the Bulgarian retail market, especially when the question is about food and beverage.
The retail park format and the outlet malls are gaining grounds step by step. Three discount hypermarket chains are now operating in Bulgaria: Kaufland, Plus and Penny Market.
All of them stick to the well known strategy of opening their first locations in the smaller Bulgarian towns and then "
setting foot"
in the cities. The expectations are that they will continue to follow this strategy line of development.
Another trend in 2010 will be the opening of the first stores of other big world-famous chains that will offer a wide assortment of affordable garment collections and accessories to the Bulgarian consumers. It is expected that money-saving retail formats, adapted to a more frugal living standards, will establish strong positions on the Bulgarian market. They are gaining popularity in the world, remaining unaffected by the recession and even registering considerable profits.
In the next few years, these formats will actively participate on the Bulgarian market along with the malls.
