Lufthansa pilot strike to affect 10 Sofia flights on March 18 – updated
A total of 10 direct flights between Sofia and the airports in Munich and Frankfurt on March 18 have been canceled as a result of the planned strike by the German pilots union, Lufthansa Group said.
The industrial action by Vereinigung Cockpit has prompted Lufthansa to cancel the flights, the airline said. The strike affected all Lufthansa short- and medium-haul flights on March 18.
Initially, only the flights to Munich scheduled for early morning and the afternoon were canceled, with the corresponding return flights canceled as well.
Later, an evening flight between Munich and Sofia, as well as two flights to Frankfurt, with the corresponding return flights, were also listed as canceled by the airline.
Flights of the Lufthansa Group airlines Germanwings, Eurowings, Air Dolomiti, Swiss, Brussels Airlines and Austrian Airlines were excepted from the strike and schedule adjustments.
