Hi Guys

Just wondered how you are all getting on with the Bulgarian language.  We have been here now since April and I must say I am picking it up very well of course this is because there are no English around Silistra so I have no choice but to listen and learn.  I get along very nicely here and we all seem to understand each other but the strangest thing is when I go to Silistra or somewhere different and speak to them in Bulgarian they look at each other and really cannot make out what I am saying, yet it is exactly the same as they speak - I think it must be an accent problem.  I also notice now when I say something in Bulgarian and if it is not correct the villagers do correct me which is great.  However, they all believe I am fluent in Bulgarian La  I wish

Been here a while now and still can't get my head around it but seem to manage ok, most places I go they seem to understand me better than I understand them but always get what I need so it doesn't really effect me in anyway although I would have liked to have mastered it. Hot

Money has its own universal language...in short; money talks.

I too, have been here for a decade or so and while having no real problem understanding the lingo, I have a problem with the correct grammar, so unless I'm talking with friends, I keep quiet and listen.

you are all a funny lot, and that's why this is a wonderful site you could say a good home to listen and watch.

where I have my house my neighbour is called luptje? but I have also been told if I say it wrong it also sounds like stupid, so like Bazz I simply keep quite.

a while back I was in the UK and I went in a Lidl, which I only go in, in Bulgaria mainly when I get of the Plane after picking up the hire car before driving up to VT and then to Popovo for dinner, anyway the lady at the counter said good morning and I said dobra den? and then I said whoops I mean good morning. age it catches us all out.
