| Hi everyone, I am just wondering if any of you have put your children through schooling in Bulgaria, and what do you think about the levels of education received here? Are village schools any good? My child is not yet old enough to start school here, and we are coming across such mixed feelings about staying in BG or to return to the UK for the education system (which I have to admit I never had great faith in anyway!) Any shared thoughts / feelings / experiences greatly appreciated! Thanks all |

| We have friends who have their child in the BG school system. It has served him well as he is very intelligent and so the challenge of learning in Bulgarian has helped him enormously. Interestingly, I also have a colleague whose son is going to attend the university in Bulgaria. |

That really depends on the village and it's location! Do you know if there are other children in the village you intend to move to? Lots of villages have very few children in them, and the only time you see children in them is on the holidays, when the kids visit their grandparents. We moved here in 2009 our two children age started school in Sofia 1st September, they love it the education they are getting is fantastic |

| I think there is a good and a bad side to life and education everywhere.
Speaking personally I wish we could have moved when our children were small. Our children are in their 30's and were bought up to think of others first and I think this is how most Bulgarian children are bought up
Better respect for adults. We can walk the streets without a group of youths shouting swearing and threatening you. No kids drunk and throwing up. No one shouting abuse at the police.
And we lived in a small town.
The children in the local school like the idea of having english people to say hello to and ask how we are. We also go to the local school when they do something in English and speak to the older pupils.
We would also let our children out to play without having to worry about them.
I am sure one of the locals would give them a telling off if they were annoying them, and that's the way it shoud be. |

Over the last few years there is a little group of five lads who come from the town to our village to visit their grand-parents. If we are staying at our villa they will come up to the gate and say Mr B***n can we come in for a swim, they strip down to their under pants and jump in. When they have had their fun they ask, are there any job's you want done or any rubbish taken away. One of the lads act's as ring-leader because he speaks perfect English |
