| [size=75:1f4dtipu]novinite 4 January 2010 UK Government Pushes Bulgaria to Crack Down on Property Fraud[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office has urged Bulgaria to raise standards and tighten controls in the Real Estate sector in the country. A letter to Bryan Talbot, who recently won his final appeal after having his dream EUR 98 000 villa stolen from him and sold on three times, was exclusively shown to Novinite.com regarding the issue. Natalie Luscombe from the European Directorate of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office stated that the UK Ambassador in Sofia met with the then Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister in early 2009 “to emphasise the need to raise standards and tighten controls in the Real Estate sector and also sought assurances that the problems encountered by British Nationals purchasing property in Bulgaria would be taken seriously at government level.†Luscombe added that “following the parliamentary elections in Bulgaria on 5th July a new Bulgarian government was sworn in on 27th July our Ambassador (Steve Williams) again raised these issues in his introductory calls on relevant new Ministers.†She continued by praising the “new governments subsequent commitment to promoting more transparent and effective overall public administration, and to tackling corruption much more rigorously than in the past.†“I hope that the efforts of our Embassy, and the stated commitment of the Bulgarian government, will help, to raise regulatory and professional standards in the Bulgarian Real Estate sector, .....and people who purchased in Bulgaria to have better protection and access to advice in the future,†she concluded. |

| As most of you will know this matter has been discussed all over the place, with some forums allowing it to turn into a slagging match, or various people making completely unfounded remarks or trying to implicate people without directly using their name? this will not be tolerated on this forum, I have no problems with this matter being discussed in a proper manner as adults, if this topic turns into anything other than an open discussion I will have no hesitation in deleting this topic and anything related to it !! so you have been warned, I will later add some additional pictures to this topic which will let you all see what has become of the property, in addition to what I have said here please remember that this matter is still under investigation, and until there has been a court case then everyone is presumed innocent !!

| I think what you have said above is very fair Ashley although I don't know to much about this from what I have read it all seems very complicated so we should all be careful what we say here |

| I fully understand your concerns here admin, I have seen this story on another forum and to be honest it did turn into a bit of a free for all what I mean is some of the members on there suddenly became an authority on the rights and wrongs of the matter? Which in some ways was very funny although it wasn’t funny for the owner [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] what started off as a very serious matter somehow turned into a circus at some point, I felt very sorry for the person who had lost their property but it seemed that the members on this other site got carried away with arguing amongst themselves as to who was right and who was wrong? Its a very sad way for adults to behave and for that reason after 3 years of being a member I left and will not return so I hope this forum will be my new home, I can see from the pictures that the house and grounds have fallen into disrepair which is a great shame but from the pictures above it won’t take much to get it back to its former glory however I wonder what the inside is like? That may tell a different story. Dave |
