Bulgaria's ultra-nationalist Ataka party submitted a proposal for increasing the minimum salary to EUR 700.

According to the party's leader Volen Siderov, the minimum salary in Bulgaria must be raised to match western European levels, bTV reported.

I do agree that all Bulgarians should have a better wage but I do have to say that if the wages went at 700 euro the cost of living would go through the roof I have been in Bulgaria now since Wednesday 3rd and leave for home 11th march I have only had 2 meals inside with the remainder out at cafes etc if the wages were that high then I and many others would not do this and eat more at there homes. the reason apart from the great country views and empty roads is the cheapness of the area if you had to pay double or even treble you would also consider moving to a better place for the same money, on the bright side of course the Bulgarians that have left and gone to the UK send small amounts home to there parents and they can do a lot more with that money. I was told that people are on around 340lev this is low and should be more but again the Brits who visit or live here do give tips and that would stop if they had to pay a lot more for dinner out.
