First topic message reminder :

Decisions, how do we know we make the right decisions! Yes indeed it all seems right at the time but then when it goes wrong we say, this was a wrong decision - For instance: we bought our house in Silistra a while ago. All went well for a number of years and we loved it, still do but if I had my time over again I would NOT buy a place I would rent it, but there again I would probably be moaning about throwing away good money, so yet another wrong decision. I have many friends in BG who through no fault of their own have had to move back to the UK, mainly lack of work or ill health, medical costs and even some who cannot cope with Bulgarian life after living there for several years. Yet they made the decision to leave their lovely homes in BG and come back to the UK. Basically many of them struggle every day as most of them put their life savings into the house in BG thinking this would be their new life and dream land.

They spent £1000's of pounds renovating their houses to a good standards and then they decide to move on, but of course they cannot sell the property hence left with a property they have to continue to maintain, bills and taxes to pay as well as trying to get themselves sorted back in the UK - Some are lucky and do eventually get rid of their pride and joy at stupidly ridiculous price. Before my brother in law passed away last year he did manage to get rid of his house but did not sell it - he gave it to his neighbours, they went to the solicitors and signed it all over to his neighbour but being a Bulgarian he does not need to buy the company so I am assuming my sister will still be responsible for the company taxes etc as they did not pay any large amount of money out to desolve the company. She is not sure as it was not in her name. However, that was a wrong decision too.

So now we are in the process of making yet another decision. We want to live in BG but there is nothing in our village as already said and we need to construct an outbuilding to give us some kind of storage and a garage so will have to spend yet more money on a property we will never get any returns on - in fact we would be lucky to get a 1/3 of the costs if we tried to sell our house in BG. Do we waste more money in construction or do we just carry on as normal. Do we sell our house here in the UK and live on a pension in BG. Do we rent our house here in the UK and after allowing for overheads accept a small amount for letting strangers live in our lovely home yet still have to worry about maintenance etc etc

So you see we all have decisions to make but are they the right one!!!!!!!!1 Oh how I hate decisions they give me a huge headache

Hi Sal good to hear from you lovely to see you back mist you loads H

We had set up to rent our place to next door thank on Wed he knocked and said they have a family crises so could not rent. I got cold feet myself to be honest so decided not to do anything - figured that was an omen. Son will come and stay every 3rd weekend so not a problem. Things happen for a reason and now is not the right time I don't want to rush anything.

We are coming to BG on Saturday and will stay for as long as we need I will give us two years to see if we want to stay there. At the moment we have no internet or tv so I get board very quickly and want to come home. We will be building a garage/storage unit so should keep us busy for a while than we got the new project Glavinitza starting next week too. At the moment plans are for the Governor to come to our villa on Monday but this may be put off now until Thursday as we have two lorries arriving in Silsitra so might be better to conduct the discussions in public. Our lorry left UK yesterday and Bon Marine Shipping Agency in Varna has come on board with us and collected a lorry load of goods and spent 1100lev on food that will also be delivered on Thursday. We are so very lucky.

Today my internet here in the uk will be disconnected so will not have any contact until we get to the villa and use a dongle which is very slow. So until I get back on line you guys take care if you are near Silistra do drop in pm me for tel and address. BYE FOR NOW Have a great weekend H H Decisions Decisions - Page 2 1536469901

Its a big decision to make, and you need to think about long and hard. Even after 15 years + of being here I still dont think this will be the country we end up in. There are so many things to take into consideration when you get older, what happens if one of you is left on your own, care when you are unable to do anything for yourself, bad health which is sad but must be taken into account. I know many will say that they have had great health treatment here, but for me I cant say that as I have only had bad experiences. To keep a house going in the UK without an income on it is a very expensive thing, renting out is the best way forward in my opinion. When we made the decision to rent ours out it was sad as the house had so many memories, and as my other half said, well even if we have to put it back together again we still have the house.

So many times I have read what people have posted about after spending time in there house in Bulgaria after they have returned, about how wonderfull it is in Bulgaria and they would love to sell up and come and live here full time, there is a saying, the grass is always greener on the other side of the hill.

Not for one minute am I saying dont do it, but just think long and hard, and if you have the chance of living here and being able to make an income on your house in the UK so you can keep it, in my opinion do this.

I would love to be able to come to one of your garden parties that you hold but its always held at the time when we are still working, lets hope maybe now we can get a chance to meet up.

I hope that you will make the right decision which I am sure you will. Wishing you all the best

Thanks a million June I really appreciate your imput and turly respect your opinion. It is great to get peoples prosepctives on things especially from yourselve, who I have know for may years and who has lived in BG for just as many. I will sit on our house in the UK for at least 12 months than we will have a better idea if we want to stay or go home. Dougie is older that me but God forbid if anything happened to him than I would not stay in BG that I am sure of. At the oment he has a chest infection but I don't know where to turn - he has antiboitics from our own doctor in the UK but they don't seem to be making any difference, so for the first time I am at a loss were to go for help. Been told tonight that the local doctor will be in surgery tomorrow morning so we will pop in and see if he will see Dougie as a patient. We have donated many items to them so he does know us. But if he cannot see him that will ask Bulgarian friends for help. So yes, agree with you June health issues are very important. We have a caridac specialist but no general health doctor as yet.

The Garden Party is on 6th Sept this year would be great to see you both - Golly gosh June we have been communicating for over years I remember when you driver started we called him Manwell Decisions Decisions - Page 2 2381841692 it was ue a seene from Faulty Towers.

Its a good idea to sit and wait for a year before you do decide what you are going to do, also you will have do one full winter, but to be honest the last couple of years they have not been to bad. Hope you sort things out with Dougie, our doctor in the village is ok, so lets hope he can get him sorted for you.

Yes Bernie its going back a few years with Manwell, he still works for us, and we have people who ask for him when booking there transfers, they love him, He still packs the suitecases so they all fall out on him. Decisions Decisions - Page 2 2381841692

Relax now, take your time, and as I always say, take the rose tinted glasses off, :Cool3:enjoy your time here and I know you will come to the right decision,
