PC Brigade Empty
PostSubject: PC Brigade   PC Brigade Icon_minitimeWed Jan 22, 2014 8:57 am

Like many of you I have been around a few years and have done a wide variety of jobs. When I was much younger there were those around who we would call "
Nosey Parkers"
or even worse "
Busy Bodies"
as they would interfere with your life at times by gossiping or reporting you and at times with good reason.Today society has evolved to something that I cnnot get my head round at times as those "
Busy Bodies "
have no become according to the tabloids as the "
PC Brigade"
!I sometimes write blogs for the "
Daily Mail"
which some times are printed and other times not according to the topic of the day.
You can find these unofficial members of the PC Brigade in all walks of life but they are in my mind are unsettling in todays society speaking out for ethnic minority groups or other wise when not needed. In short they are architechs of trouble when there is not a problem in the first place.
A prime example was when I a police officer stationed in a small town in Suffolk called Needham Market. My sergeant asked me and another officer to go to Bramford village which was a ten minute drive away to do traffic control for a Gypsy funeral. This funeral was a large affair as one of the Gypsy Kings had passed away.A female police officer asked what I was up to and I told herand she said that "
It wasn't politacly correct to call them Gypsy they are called Travellers"
! I bit my tounge and made my way to Bramford and spent an hour and a half there directing traffic in and out of the village.Once the traffic had calmed down I stood on a grass verge and was approached by a well dressed Gypsy who sported large gold rings on his fingers and a medalion around his neck.He intoduced his self as the new Gypsy King and thanked us for directing the traffic.I then popped the qustion and asked him if it was curtious to call his people Gypsy or Traveller? He told me that we are Gypsy and not Traveller as Travellers are a stain on our community.I retuned to Needham Market armed with this information and sat down filling out my note book.
The female police officer walked in about a half hour later and asked me how it went? I told it went fine and then I went on the offensive.I told her "
It's people like you who causes trouble with your idea of Polical Correctness"
! I told her what the Gypsy King had said and wasn't amused at being called a "
Traveller"
.She went very quiet to say the least and my Sergeant told her to get the facts right before speaking!
I could go on but If you are a Polical Correct person that's fine but there are many out there who interfere where it's not wanted causing misery for the most insignificant comment or action making a mountain out of a mole hill.
Society has become plagued with these PC people who seem to know what's best for us and need to get a life as far as I'm concerned.
Oh one thing more! I forget what town it was in but I think it was Christmas of 20012 when a council PC person decided that there will be no Christmas decorations as it may offend the Muslim community. The councellor got a slap in the face when the Muslim community protested to him that they liked Christmas and all it's decorations!

Yep your right!I am supprised that someone has responded to my comments on the PC Brigade so thanks for that. Most people these days back peddle when confronted with these sort of matters which is known as LMF(Lack of Moral Fiber).I admit I am not very PC only when it's required as not to offend someone as I tend to say it as I find it and some times it can come out wrong.People today are like sheep and are led by their noses and they to this either to social climb or want to fit in.I had a nick name in the Army and Briagadiers even sent memo's addressed to AFC which the "
F"
was not my middle initial. This outward attitude did not affect my career and I was always asked for my view on different matters as my superiors knew they would get a straight answer.Having said that on occasion it was my experience as a policeman the police can be a little defensive when it comes to being PC which is understanable dealing with the general public.

:Good post:Speedgunner. Just popped into the forum today because it is windy and wet here in Malta. I so agree with your post and it has sometimes made me unpopular in the past too. Mountains out of molehills.

In our opinion it is the "
do gooders"
that have created the PC in the UK, politicians have picked up on it and one Prime Minister after another have adopted it as the 'norm.' Normal for whom I question?

Yes your right Itchy the politicians have picked up on it and it has a derimental on those who wish to live a life without the PC Brigade interferring telling them what they can do and can't do.I like to think that we are all responsible people and level headed.I can rememnber that the Labour Goverment once advised the English not fly the flag of England on St Georges day just in case it could upset someone as it is related to the "
Skin Heads"
and football holligans.I still flew the flag as it was mine before these right wing idiots adopted it.Oddball some people do not like it when you express your feelings that has a ring of truth to it which you will appreciate.

Unfortunately Speedgunner, many people these days are not responsible or reasonable human beings and the PC brigade, in their 'wisdom', seem to think we need protection from them. Since politicians and their like, do not care too hoots for the average man in the street (not very PC!) its just another way of showing how çaring' they are just for political gain.
