Not sure if this is posted in the right section but couldn't find anywhere else to post it.

Basically, I am after some lining paper. Preferably quite thick paper to hide cracks etc. I have looked in the local hardware shops/builders merchants, and all I can get is wallpaper. I can use wallpaper at a push but would much rather use lining paper. I have looked online at Mr Bricolage and a couple of other places but they don't list it so doubt they sell it.

The cost of shipping from England is fairly expensive so I have ruled that option out.

Does anyone know where I may be able to buy some?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Can't say I have ever seen it here, I don't think it's something the Bulgarians use they don't seem to be that fussy.

If you have a Mr Brickolage close by, I'd have a look in there anyway. Bulgarians do use it, but don't have a special term for it.

This info comes compliments of my Bulgarian wife. Can anyone help? 1763269238

Thank you, that would be great. Just plain white ideally, however it will be painted over so white not essential.

Thanks again. Can anyone help? 1536469901

Home again..bad news I'm afraid. The young lady knew what I was asking for, but told me that the store hadn't stocked it for quite a while.

Sorry about that.

Mrs Bazz also checked in Jysk this morning..same sad story.

Ah that's a shame!

Thank you for asking anyway, much appreciated. And send my thanks to Mrs Bazz too. I shall have to re-think my plans.

Thanks again.

Could you not ask the store to get you x number of rolls?

If their suppliers still stock it that is.

I couldn't find any either, so I phoned someone I know who works as a plasterer to ask them and got some instructions...

I got some white plaster and mixed it up a bit runny like runny whipped cream, added a bit of PVA glue and then smeared it over a wall with a glove, after it dried I rubbed it down with fine wet and dry, after painting it a few days later it looked fine,

Its nearly 2 years ago and no cracks have appeared yet so it seems to have worked.

Yes Phil, you could ask them to get it in for you..but usually you have to pay upfront and take what arrives, regardless of the fact it may be not what you asked for. I've been caught out a number of times with this!

Must admit I don't like the idea of just papering over a crack because they nearly always seem to re-appear, because once the paper has dried out it becomes brittle and taut.

The best way is to actually rake it out a little bigger than what it is at the moment then paint with a PVA solution such as Uni-Bond, allow to dry then fill it with a flexible filler.

When you push the filler over the crack 'do not use a sideways motion' (across the crack) because that way tends to create small pockets of air and may not fill the crack properly, so always push the filler along the crack one one end to the other either from top to bottom, this helps to push the air out and the filler deeper into the crack.

For BIG cracks, don't try filling it/them all at once, you are better only partially filling and go over a couple of times.

Thanks for the advice guys, you've all been a great help. The cracks are actually in the upstairs celings. Not massive cracks, but enough to need sorting out. The other option is to replace the ceilings, however, as i found out when replacing the bathroom ceiling, this is easier said than done with un-square walls and celings (4 inches difference in height from one side to the other) . The other problem i have with just filling them is that the ceilings are not flat, they have bowed somewhat so filler on its own will probably crack quite quickly.

I have a relative going to England in march so it could wait till then.

Thanks again for all the help and advice T
