Woodburners - Page 2 Empty

First topic message reminder :

Hello all. We have a couple of woodburners to install....just basic ones, no radiators or hot water. We have been asking around in the village for recommendations for someone knowledgeable and reliable to fit them. But getting nowhere, just lots of tales of people being ripped off! But not who by. So, does anyone know of someone in the VT region who might be able to help? We have found all the chimneys are clear and ready to go, but no idea how big a job it will be, whether there are regulations or whatever. We don't want some chancer telling us it is a difficult and technical job costing thousands if it is relatively simple. Do we need flues or anything for the chimneys or do the pipes fit straight onto the opening thingy in the chimney?

Have we been hearing too many 'embellished' horror stories?

All tales and advice eagerly digested. Thanks for reading. g

I've survived the last 65 winters without a monitor, so I'll chance another one. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Check out Geosonda in VT. They fit Prity woodburners and install all kinds of heating including solar. The man and his wife speak English and they have a shop in VT. Also online though its ages since I looked. Our woodburners were all installed by him and the radiators for the central heating. Hope this helps. We have had no problems at all.

Oldun, thank you so much for telling us about Geosonda, T they were great. From ringing them, them giving us a quote and completing the job (including putting in a whole new chimney) just over a week. Great service, and the lads were quiet and undemanding and worked well all the time. Very reasonable cost too for four day's work. Great!

And we are toasty warm!

So very pleased that they came up trumps for you. They helped us out so much when we had a catastrophe with our first woodburner due to us not understanding what the original builders had told us! Yes, we had a big learning curve like any other newbie even though I had used a petchka in Greece. It was the radiators off that we didn't understand. We used Geosonda again when we moved to our new house and again we have had no trouble now Naiden made sure we understood the workings and the battery back-up. We also used him to service the stove after the long summer until we were sure we were okay. Having said that.... when we recently resorted to heating when the temperature dropped drastically, we forgot to plug in the battery so the water temperature soared because the pump was not working! Shovelled out the embers superquick.
Anyone else wanting heating of any sort please think of Geosonda. Naiden is also on FB under Geosonda.
