Container costs to Bulgaria or large lorry? Empty
PostSubject: Container costs to Bulgaria or large lorry?   Container costs to Bulgaria or large lorry? Icon_minitimeSun Sep 15, 2013 10:32 am

Has anyone had a container shipped to BG recently, or used a really big lorry? Im just sending out emails for quotes, and wondering if anyone has recent info on how much it should cost so we pay the right sort of price if we decide to get one!

Has anyone ever found someone who can lift a full container?, or do they all want filling on the lorry, I can fill a container here with forklift , but no forklift in Bulgaria , till I buy one, and I dont want to buy one till I am over there full time

Ive been looking at a few ideas to get things there, I have about 15 to 20 ton of machines left here in the UK ,

The biggest Van I can drive is a 7.5Ton , carrying about 3 ton a time, so its going to be a 4 or 5 or more trips ,

I cant decide if a container would be easier , or pay someone with a giant lorry to drive them over , or am i safer taking them through customs as ive had no real problems yet with customs and other people might (what with it being more noticeable a giant lorry full of stainless steel shiny machines )

I still wonder if it will be easier to keep driving them over , as I get time to unload and move them round on a pallet truck

Just wondering what the costs of a container or removal lorry should be , to see all the options as to what I do! , It would be easiest to get a container lifted in , and I can empty as required , but Ive never seen any mention of this as an option , just unload from the air , a problem with 1 to 2 ton machines!

I am currently speaking to shipping companies but for LCL on a 20', getting it offloaded and then overland. FCL is obviously more cost effective as you are paying by the container as opposed to cu m, you should know though that it is heading into prime shipping season right now so costs will reflect this.

Shipping companies can certainly arrange door to door with full documentation but you might want to speak to logistics companies all the same to get cross quotes. You could also purchase the container outright so you can unload at you destination whenever you want.

Although these were for Turkey I hope they may give some idea of what you are looking for or what may be involved, but considering the difficulties with Turkey not being in the EU may also explain some of the very high import costs, to the point most people believe it's cheaper in the long run just to buy all new furniture on arrival, although even that was a debatable point.
Hopefully the list of moving companies will also come in handy.

The Consulate paper work cost approx. £100.
The Shipping cost £3,500.
Insurance was 2 percent of the value.
Bankroll tax was exactly as on the Turkish Consulate web site , each item ranging from 75 to 150 euro. (Tax on electrical goods)

We paid by TL transfer to the agent so don't need to go to Izmir.
Four packers came to our house on 12th December and spent the day packing 150 boxes, which came to 18 cubic metres.
We packed our books and clothes but they packed everything else.
I didn't ask if we could pack it all ourselves, but we got all the boxes from Bonner.
They took them off to storage in their yard in Canterbury.

We went to the Turkish consulate in London and got all our paper work sorted.
We arrived on 30th December and our boxes arrived in Izmir on 3rd January.
The agent Bonner used was Asya Nakliyet in Izmir
Soyer (Bonner's agent) cleared everything through customs on 4th Jan and we paid the bandrole tax on 2 TVs and a DVD recorder."
