Well there is no surprise there than! You have to give him credit for being one very clever man, as there is no money in luggage but cargo, well that is a different thing. Nice of him to tell us we wil lhave to pay for hand luggage in the future I wonder is that just Ryanair or others. I guess many of us will avoid Ryanair unless it is absolutely necessary. The thing is, whatever this man does he gets away with it and people still use his airline - They moan like hell but do nothing about it....

I think a lot of the time, folks will take the cheapest flight possible.

I totally agree with you Chris..the main problem seems to be that even those folk paying the cheapest fare seem to expect the 5 star treatment..there is no such thing as a 'free lunch' any more and If you are prepared to pay peanuts, you can expect a monkey. As most of you are aware, I spent quite a long time in that industry, admittedly I was usually up at the 'pointy end', but not always..I flew dozens of times as 'self loading freight' from obscure destinations like Sydney to Harare or Singapore to Manchester and had a chance to see what really goes on back in 'cattle class'..contary to popular belief, pilots don't always get to fly first or business class..we take whatever spare seat there is! And we don't get paid while we are doing it!

Due to rising costs on a global scale, all operators have had to shave back their operating expenditure while trying to remain competitive in a cutthroat marketplace. The days of lots of legroom, free three course meals with your choice of good wine or champagne to wash it down. easily bypassed luggage allowances, have long since flown out the door..and it will only get worse!

Like it not, RyanAir will survive.

OK bgbazz, you have covered some of the bad points and the down side, now, if you wouldn't mind please tell us about some of the pluses, like four nights in a top Hong Kong hotel by the famous gun, tell us about a four night stop-over in Sydney with the advantage of sunbathing on Bondi beach. A free flight to America for a complete crew to bring an airplane and passengers back. It is not all doom and gloom, IS IT ???

Of course it's not all doom and gloom..there were many good things too..I got to see the parts of the world I could never afford to if I had to pay for it..Mt Victoria Hotel in Hong Kong was a lovely place, as was the Raffles in Singapore..sunbaking at Bondi isn't all it's cracked up to be and the Aplinblick Hotel in Wilderswill, Switzerland, far surpasses that!

If you imagine a relief crew exchange in the USA is fun, try this on..18 hour flight from Sydney to LA, land and go straight for briefings, supervise loading, preflights etc, and head off into the wild blue yonder, only to arrive at your departure airport, 42 hours later..that's why we have two crews on these flights..and that's why we always got YOU there..most of the time!!!
