I have been a quiz master for over 20 years and raised in excess of £7,000 for various charities
Next week the landlord at our local pub [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is holding a Retro food, 60's week finishing up on the Friday evening with a Gala garden party of scampi and chicken and chips in the basket, black forest gateau etc, a male singer has been booked who will relive the 60's with all the oldies, and I am doing a 60's quiz, 25 questions on music of the 60's and 25 questions on 60's general knowledge
I can research Google for questions but so can everybody else so if any members can remember the 60's on these topics please send me material that I could use

Sorry..I grew up with outside dunnies and 33, 45 and 78 rpm records and wind up gramaphones..first saw television when I was 13 and my dad drove a 1939 Chev car..his take home pay was 8 pounds and 40 pence per fortnight! The rent, for the company house, came out of his 'take home money', before he got it and the rest was given to my mum to feed him and five boys. I won a 'guessing the length of string in a jar' contest at the local dance when I was 14 years old and the prize was 10 shillings worth of petrol! We all pushed the heavy car almost 5 miles to the petrol station to collect that prize.

I don't think that what I've written will help you much, but I just wanted to say it anyway.

Didn't mean to waffle on like that..probably a bit of a 'senior moment' and a trip down memory lane.

Things like dinky toys and matchbox cars, crystal radios, beano comics, cutlery made from 'sheffield steel' and the photo of a very young Queen Elizabeth on our mantlepiece. If you were lucky enough to have a bicycle (shared with your brothers) it would be a 'Raleigh' and cars like Prefects, Anglias, Humbers and Austins were still common.

We had an Anglia, fit all six of us in it. Got a photo somewhere with us having a picnic at Longleat with the car prized in the background, our first ever.

However, can't really help Willowsend, I was too young to remember much....honest! Can you help please 1865348797

I will put my mind to it during the day whilst watering the garden with my new pump, but in the meantime Barry, my first car was a 1939 Rover 14 with no synchro on the gearbox and I passed my test at the age of 17 the first time. I believe the examiner gave a pass because I had the b-lls to drive it!! With perfection of course!

I passed my test first time too..without even driving! The local copper said to me at the time, "
I've been watching you drive since you were 12, so we don't need to waste our time"
. I learnt to drive when I was 8 or 9, carting hay on a 5ton International truck and later on in many different types, makes and models of vehicles. Back in those days, roads running through the forest were not classed as public, so anyone could drive anything along them at any time.
