Annual Vehicle Test Inspection of Cars That Have Been Converted to LPG in Bulgaria
Before December 2011 the legislation of Bulgaria considered that gas system of each vehicle is the independent unit and not part of the vehicle and that is why before December 2011 owners of the vehicles with gas systems except the regular annual check should have made additional check - of the LPG installation.
This part of Bulgarian legislation was in contradiction to the European Law and that is why it was changed.
Since December 2011 there is no additional inspection for the vehicle gas systems
since this system is checked along with the rest of the car during the annual inspection of the vehicle.
The owner of the car with gas system should remember the following:
1. The company that puts the LPG installation to the vehicle should issue a passport (official document with all the parameters) of this equipment as this passport should not be renewed or change (till change of the entire LPG installation) - this passport should be provided by the car owner during the annual inspection of the entire vehicle.
2. During the annual inspection of the vehicle the company that makes the inspection except the vehicle checks and inspects the LPG installation and notifies the owner/his representative if there are any problems as the document that should be presented during the check is the passport of LPG installation. The check of the LPG installation consists of the check:
- of the gas tank/reservoir itself - for deformations, cracks, corrosions or other defects
- of whether the entire LPG system was installed correct
- of the stability of the attachment of the LPG installation
- of the condition of the electrical connections of the solenoid valve, of the shaft-evaporator, of the fuse
- if there are any damages in the insulation or other mechanical damages
- once per 5 years should be checked the strength of the tank and the density of the other elements of the installation.
