Tell me if I am missing something here? I have just listened to the news and read the Daily Mail on line about Spouses pensions. As I understand it when I die and my wife of 34 years is left behind she gets nothing? Like many of you were a mother or your wife was bringing up kids like a woman is supposed to do and had no time to go to work. Now if lets say a woman is in her 40's when the chidren have flown the nest and the chances of a full time job at that age is pretty slim in most cases.I spent a long while in the Armed Forces serving all over the world and rightly my wife's place was with me along with our child. So correct me if am wrong but as I said before it seems that my wife will not be eligable because she was married to me and have settled down in Bulgaria? If this is so then my wife is being punished for bringing up a child and being married to a service man which is really distasteful when there are those living the UK are being kept for nothing and for the rest of their lives.

Unfortunately you are correct, in my opinion it's the fault of the MOD for not paying or crediting a basic national insurance contribution for none working wives the same as unemployed people get here in the UK which is why they can be unemployed all of their lives and yet still eligible for a state pension, the only thing is though if they are not eligible for the state pension they then receive supplementary benefits/Social Security of which then actually works out a lot more with all of the add-ons they are entitled too than just being eligible for the state pension.
