We have a good friend whom speaks very good english and is a local buisnessman. These last few weeks we could not understand why there has been so many police around, in Shumen and our local municiple pulling not just one car but six or seven on each side of the road (us included) Here goes, he told us that "
because the authorities and government have run out of money, they send out all people in authority to inspect, find fault, fine and generally make the citizens cover the short fall. Wether this is true we don,t know? But if it is, Are we still in a police state where they can be told to go and do this? Scary

Adding to that I have a friend who is a Bulgarian policeman and they will also be targetting those of us who drive around still on UK plates.They are using English speaking and reading police who can verify the legitamcy of vehicle documents.So this is a heads up for those of any ex pat who are driving around on UK plates so don't be supprised if you are flagged down for a road side check.
