We had a bit of a drama last night! Our wee dachshund Tansy came into the house from the garden, and because she has problems
with her back, needs to be carried up stairs. When my husband put her down, he noticed he was covered in blood!
On closer inspection, the dog had a very deep wound in her chest. A quick call to the vet - this was at 7.15 pm - then a trip into VT.
He decided she needed a general anaesthetic for some stitches. So, a couple of injections later, Tansy was whisked away to be stitched.
The vet reckoned she had caught herself on something sharp in the ground and was not a bite as we had first thought. She came round quickly, and was then sprayed with what looked like gold spray paint. She was just like a Christmas decoration!!
Throughout the whole time, Tansy did not whimper or complain. What a brave dog!
The cost of this great treatment? 46 lev. Unbelievable! We have to take her back tomorrow for another antibiotic injection. Apparently she should rest indoors today, but not an easy task with a feisty wee dog.

We just wonder what this would have cost in the UK?

Good to hear he's OK and on the mend! Sounds like you've got a reasonable vet.

Poor Tansy hope will all be OK with her.
I expect you may be looking at around 70 pound back in the UK especially a late night call in.

Wow, that's reasonable! You wouldn't get through the door for that here, and we live opposite the vet!

Update on Tansy!
We took her back to the vet yesterday for another antibiotic jab. The vet reckoned she needed a few more stitches
but the surrounding skin seems to be dead or dying, so nothing to stitch to! We've to go back on Monday where he will
give another general anaesthetic and see what he can do.
The cost this time? 18 Levs, for an injection, a tube of antiseptic cream and a lampshade collar.
We think the whole cost in the UK so far would be at least £150.

Glad shes on the mend. having had a few visits to the vets here too, i'd have to say the service is brillant and personnally im very happy with the charges. You need a stiff drink just to open the vet bill in the uk.
