I don'r know what to think of Bulgarians as yesterday evening my wife saw a nieghbour who lives at the top of my field some 200mtrs away lying by our fence at the side of our property. My wife called me and pointed him out and I thought at the time it was someone who had fallen down due to an accident. I was wrong as he was legless through to much alcohol I soon realised when I approached him. He was burbling and after three attempts I managed to get him up and get him home to his house after swaying all over the place as I couldn't have left him there.
Well Plumen who is Bulgarian came to say hi to me today as he works for me now and again and he will be this Tuesday doing some concreating in the stable.
Here is the kicker! The very same man who I had shown compassion for told Plumen about the horse manure on my land and that he was going to see the mayor to get me to shift it. Now that is fair enough if it had been the height of Summer and was stinking which horse manure does not after a couple of weeks unlike pigs and chicken manure , and when it rains it dissolves into the ground after a few rainy days and does the earth the world of good.What gets me is why he didn't approach me his self and complain and I would have been sympathetic towards him just to keep the piece.But no he feels he needs to get the mayor invoved which doesn't bother me to much as I will give her the tour of my property and ask her to take deep sniffs to see if she can smell anything with Plumen as my translator. I asked Plumen if he could smell anything and to be honest with his answer as I could be imune to it as lived around the horse and he said no nothing. Now I have a nieghbour to the right of me who has two pigs and they do stink but live and let live and complaining has never entered my head. Don't get me wrong I like the Bulgarian people otherwise I wouldn't be here and I know they are not all like this nieghbour of mine. We live in a rural area where animals are owned by most and every morning a herd of sheep passes by my house leaving Malteasers all over the road for people to stand in but quite rightly no one complains! No one apart from me and my wife goes out onto our field and no one has to step into our horse manure.

I asked Pumen why he should take that attitude and he said and quote, '"
You are English and some Bulgarian people can be jealous of what you have and this is why he is being difficult."
So the next time he is lying there like a turned turtle he can stay there come rain or shine!

Oh I can so identify with that mentality Speedgunner. There are many things that can irritate beyond words about our Bulgarian village friends. I think you would all be tired of reading the list I could give! It is all down to the idea that we Brits have so much more than they do. I am saying this as someone who has written eulogies about the wonderful village Bulgarians but there is another side as Speedgunner has pointed out. 'Frustations of living in Bulgaria' here I come maybe.........
