Ban on Insurers Car Stickers Becomes Effective in Bulgaria
Changes in the Insurance Code became effective in Bulgaria Sunday, banning the displaying of insurers' stickers on vehicles windows.
The fine for violators is BGN 50.
The 3-month grace period expired at midnight, giving all drivers plenty of time to remove the stickers, which were used to indicate that the car is insured, including against theft.
Insurers are banned from placing such stickers as well. The change aims at eliminating signs that make thieves realize who the insurer is and stay away from the vehicle. Insurers cannot include as a clause in the policy the request to place their stickers and any other indication on automobiles.
The amendments to the Insurance Code have been published in the State Gazette on May 5, 2011.
