I found this today and thought it may be of interest to anyone interested in Architecture so Have a look and see what you think sorry I couldn't find any pictures with the article and I hope the translation is ok too, but if anyone can add pictures it would be useful to those of us who do not know these buildings

Determined are the best buildings of 2009



Objects of public importance, bold investments in the regions;
buildings, which pledged to implement and cleared functionality interesting conversions and projects originated modern urban areas, were award winners in the eighth edition of the national competition "
Building of the Year 2009"
Journal of Construction city.
The competition is to evaluate best practices in architecture, construction and investment, respect for the environment and achievements in design.

I. House of the Year was Vitosha Tulip in Sofia

constructor: Yavor Boshnakov Eng, Eng Nicholas Deretev).
Learn more complex consists of 144 apartments in four separate buildings covering a total of over 18 thousand sq. m built area. Its functionality, design and amenities to meet the criteria of modern inhabitant of the capital. The jury assessed and a new approach to the environment, which consists in building infrastructure around the complex.

. The jury appreciates the fact that the current reconstruction is fully preserved architectural image and style, continuing the tradition and compromise to the urban environment.

constructor: Eng Petranka Marinova). The jury assessed neighborhood redevelopment of abandoned heating plant and transform it into a modern boutique hotel. In the reconstruction volume are reserved to the building exterior walls and chimney. The building also hosts its main features - a small urban hotel and installation for the production of "
live"
beer, which is exhibited in the interior. The prize jury wanted to encourage creativity and the search for new understanding of the neglected areas in the Bulgarian cities.

The complex includes 212 rooms, 10 studio suites and executive floor with 8 rooms, 6 bedroom and 4 two bedroom luxury suite and spa center, located in an area of nearly 3000 square meters The jury noted the unique design, luxury and performance to the highest criteria for this category, and harmony with the environment.

In the same category the jury awarded a special prize for the renovation and reconstruction of the overall design of the Hotel Oasis in the Holiday Club Riviera, made with respect to the original image, the emphasis and development of Mediterranean style building. Preserved is the harmony between architecture and nature. Achieved are impressive design solutions through the interior colors, materials, lighting and furniture. Investor is the Riviera AD;

VI. Oasis Resort & Spa in Lozenets is a building year in the category "
Holiday Resorts"

LSI Ljubomir Semerdjiev architects and engineers Ltd., contractor: Diana Commerce-1 Ltd., designer:"
LSI Ljubomir Semerdjiev architects and engineers Ltd.). In building complex are photographed in detail hundreds of different types of trees and past alleys for better zoning of the site and disposal of residential groups and communication is maintained and enriched herbal wealth. Architectural and urban decision preserves the relief of the terrain. The overall image is a synthesis of the complex architecture of the Mediterranean and Balkan elements. This is a car-free zone. The jury assessed the luxury conversion and tolerance to the environment as a direction for the development of similar complexes in Bulgarian resorts.

VII. Commercial building of the year is Bourgas Plaza

This is the first commercial center of modern type of Burgas. Investor in the complex, which is the first Carrefour hypermarket in Bulgaria is Bourgas Plaza SA;

Prize reported advantages of the facility, designed according to international best practice for this kind of buildings, including evaluating the spatial distribution, visibility of the shops and easy navigation for visitors. With its excellent location Bourgas Plaza has the advantage to be part of a powerful commercial destination, which brings together in one neighborhood, a number of leading commercial companies.

VII. Building of the Year in the category "
Production buildings and logistics centers is a logistic center of the business park"
Sofia Airport Center.


It is excellent for premium conversion, consistent with the highest standard for this kind of buildings in terms of size and technical specifications. Investor is Tishman International Group Kampanis af "

VIII. Special-purpose building of the year is the Regional History Museum in Stara Zagora

Arch. Vatev Nicholas;

constructor: Rumen Draganov, Ivailo Terziev).
The elegant and modern building was awarded not only as an example of the investment policy of Stara Zagora, aimed at preserving heritage, but also because of the decision of the urban complex. It is situated harmoniously on the central square of the city, linking architectural image in a different cultural and historical layers.
The jury noted the strong and active citizenship in support of this nomination, as the campaign initiated entirely voluntary, with participation of media and public, brought to the Regional Museum of History over 10 000 votes in online voting.

Organizers of the competition presented a special award for the realization of high-tech and energy of the passenger terminal building of Plovdiv Airport for domestic and international flights (investor: Ministry of Transport - DG Civil Aviation Administration - Plovdiv Airport EAD, architect: Arkont - A Ltd. - Arch. Ilko Nikolov, arch. Yovcheva Rosica, Arch. Mushtanova Diana, George Zaikov;
contractor: KOEV Ltd.;
constructor: Prof. Stanimir Stoyanov). The terminal complies with European requirements for flight service. Award account functionality, ergonomics and comfortable environment of the facility. With its implementation and renewal of infrastructure, Plovdiv Airport is becoming an important stimulus for economic development and tourism in Southern Bulgaria.

Organizers awards for energy efficiency of Gabrovo Municipality for the implementation of the project "
