British songwriter writes of Baba Marta

Jonathan Taylor, British singer songwriter and Bulgaria-based ex-pat has teamed up with one of Bulgaria's national heroes of music and culture Valdy Totev to present a new track called Baba Marta.

The track, telling the story of one of Christian Europe's oldest traditional Pagan festivals, was aired on BNT on March 1.

Baba Marta was written in March 2011 in Bansko. "
This track is not only believed to be the first contemporary rock presentation of the Baba Marta folk legend made but most certainly the first ever written in English to a world-wide audience,"
says Taylor.

Taylor is no stranger to worldwide radio. Some of his most notable works are The Holocaust Denier, the story of his encounter with British Auschwitz survivor Leon Greenman and If Only, the story of personal messages left by those trapped within the Twin Towers. Following an appearance at London's Victoria Theatre he was described by Andrew Liddle in the Halifax Evening Courier as "
a rare talent indeed"
.

His musical collaborator Vladimir "
Valdy"
Totev is a Bulgarian musician, known for his work as composer, singer and keyboard player of rock band The Crickets.

Another of Taylor's releases, Sofia, City of Love was originally written for a song writing contest in Sofia for the British council. "
Sadly, I didn't win but it is a love song about a city I adore."

Both tracks are from the new album The Blacksail Studios Sessions due for release in June.
